A quick checklist for video content
Below is a quick preview of how we would like the video content to look like (this video is landscape and all Parently videos should be shot in portrait format!) but regarding the simplicity and background then it gives a good guideline as to what will look good.
1 - Make sure the background is simple without any distractions, a few nicely placed plants will be ok but elaborate paintings will clash with the sitter and take focus away. A little colour here and there is ok but usually a nice light background will be the best. Make sure that hard lines are not cutting through your head if possible! Also try and get as much distance as possible from the background if the room allows this. Muted colours are best overall.
2 - The camera should be higher than the desk at head height, so that you are not looking down at the camera. Use some books or a phone stand to hold the phone.
3 - Sit with a window in-front of your face, so that light is flat and even across the face. natural light will always be better but make sure light does not streak across the background or face. Flat lighting is best (even murky days outside should give a nice light on the face using video!
4 - Wear something smart and casual but not too casual as you are talking as a person of authority and need to look smart.
5 - When you start the video do not introduce yourself but jump straight into the subject. All your information will be written in text on the video information pop up.
6 - If you pause or lose track of what you are saying, do not feel that you need to start again, especially if it is a long video. Just put your palm to the camera to show us that this needs to be edited out and pick up from where you left off. If there is outside noise distractions, please start over again as this will be hard to edit out.
7 - Relax, be yourself and just focus on passing on your knowledge to the camera!
8 - Phone/Camera settings should be set to 1080 at 30fps and anything from 5 minutes up to 30 minutes.
9 - Send video files through a free service at
wetransfer.com to the email address
